About My Estate Planning Practice

At my central Illinois estate planning and probate practice, I assist clients in protecting their assets and property and sharing them with the next generation. I provide a full spectrum of estate-related services, including creating and updating wills and trusts, planning for Medicaid, drafting powers of attorney, guiding clients through probate and estate administration and helping business owners construct valid succession documents.

Estate planning has a reputation for sounding intimidating, but I make it easy for you by taking the time to talk to you in detail about your current financial situation and your concerns for the future. Creating a blueprint for your loved ones to follow if you’re no longer able to speak for yourself is a generous act. I make sure that blueprint is clear in its intent and reflects your desires.

What Does The Estate Planning Process Look Like?

Estate planning looks different at different stages of your life. If you’re married with young children, I can help you provide guardianship for your kids until they become adults. If you have retired and you’re focused on avoiding probate, I can help you select the most efficient ways to pass them to loved ones. If you’re a business owner, we’ll discuss your preferences for passing along your enterprise.

Over the years, I have helped hundreds of families in Springfield and across central Illinois with:

  • Drafting, reviewing and revising wills
  • Selecting and setting up various kinds of trusts
  • Creating durable powers of attorney and advance medical directives
  • Elder law tasks such as SSI and Medicaid planning
  • Estate administration and probate disputes
  • Understanding how estate law impacts business planning

Cookie-cutter estate planning runs the risk of neglecting your family’s unique needs. I streamline the legal process so you can focus on what a secure transfer of assets means to you.

My Background Gives Me An Estate Planning Edge

I’ve lived in Springfield for more than 35 years. I love this area and the people who live here. Serving as an advocate and protector for people in central Illinois keeps me coming into the office every day.

I was originally a business and finance major during my undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University. More recently, I’ve taught local courses at Financial Peace University. I care about helping people make smart decisions with their money and assets.

Earlier in my career, I handled personal injury cases for a local law firm, as well as other types of litigation. This work sharpened my ability to represent clients in high-conflict situations and bolstered my confidence in the courtroom. That means I can guide you through probate or estate conflicts that lead to litigation without hesitation.
